Shrugs are usually considered a side accessory or a shield or a cover up for that unwaxed arm in most outfits. As for me, I just pull out a shrug for when I’m feeling cold but I always feel like it ruins my outfit and takes away the limelight from that beautiful design on the back of the top that I’m wearing. To be honest, my shrugs are usually lying in the back of the cupboard somewhere because it gets really difficult to wear warm shrugs in Mumbai’s weather.
So, what do you do? How do you get shrugs to be an important aspect of your outfit and wear it more often despite the weather? Well, I think that if you pick just the right shrug which is just the right size and the right material with an outfit that would be dull otherwise, you my friend can be a game changer. Now, how do you do that? Let’s take a basic black t-shirt and a black pair of jeans and pair them up with some nice flats or sneakers. Now this is pretty basic right? Lets make this outfit more interesting by adding a long and flowy kimono or a shrug that doesn’t make you feel very hot. You could even pair up a white t-shirt and jeans with a shrug but make sure you don’t wear tops with designs on them already. The shrug could be colourful or a royal blue or maybe an army green. For me, that is chic right there.
I feel that people often buy plain and boring shrugs to cover everything up but it should not be like that. They should be used to enhance your outfit and make you feel great instantly. If you live in a hot/humid weather like i do, make sure your shrug is light and mostly cotton and if your shrug or cardigan or kimono doesn’t make you feel great as soon as you put it on then I think you’ve picked the wrong one and suggest you buy new ones immediately because fashion isn’t just about comfort or necessity but its about expressing who you are and being happy with it so go all out and shrug it on!
